About PDFBolt
PDFBolt was built from a simple frustration: working with PDF files should not require expensive software subscriptions, account registration, or uploading sensitive documents to third-party servers. Every essential PDF task — merging, splitting, compressing, converting, rotating, watermarking — should be fast, free, and completely private.
Today PDFBolt serves professionals, students, small businesses, and individuals worldwide. Every tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files are processed locally on your device and never transmitted anywhere. There are no servers storing your documents, no accounts required, and no usage limits.
What We Stand For
Privacy by Architecture
Privacy isn't a setting — it's built into how PDFBolt works. Because all processing happens in your browser, there is no technical possibility of your files being stored or accessed by a third party. Your documents stay yours.
Speed Without Compromise
Server-based PDF tools introduce upload delays, queue times, and download waits. PDFBolt eliminates all of these. Processing happens as fast as your device allows — typically seconds, not minutes.
Genuinely Universal Access
PDFBolt works in every modern browser on desktop and mobile without installation. There are no premium tiers, no feature gates, and no 'free trials.' All nine tools are fully available to everyone, forever.
Sustainable and Free
We sustain PDFBolt through non-intrusive display advertising. This keeps every tool completely free for users while covering our development and infrastructure costs. No subscriptions, no hidden fees.
How PDFBolt Works
Traditional web-based PDF tools work by receiving your file, processing it on their servers, and sending it back. This approach is inherently slow and creates privacy risks — your files are on someone else's hardware, even briefly.
PDFBolt takes a fundamentally different approach. When you use a PDFBolt tool, the processing code runs in your browser's JavaScript engine. Your file is loaded into browser memory, transformed by the tool, and the result is downloaded directly to your device. At no point does any data leave your computer. The only network activity is loading the tool interface itself — not your documents.
This architecture is powered by WebAssembly and modern browser APIs including the PDF-lib library for PDF generation and manipulation. These same techniques that were impossible in browsers five years ago are now mature, fast, and reliable enough to handle production workloads.
